Amazon Blog Series: Q4 Update

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be posting regular updates as we go through Q4, sharing progress, insights, and tips as things ramp up. Q4 is the biggest, busiest, and most profitable time of the year for Amazon sellers, and I’ll be documenting the experience as it happens.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know that Q4 has officially started and if you’ve sold on Amazon before, you’ll also know that Q4 is absolutely outrageous in the best possible way. It’s the time of year when sales go through the roof. You can easily 2x, 3x, or even 4x your usual monthly profits in November and December alone if you play it right.

Now is the time to get strategic, get aggressive, and really make your money work for you.

Cash Flow Is King

Right now, your focus should be on freeing up as much capital as possible to reinvest into Q4 stock.

If you’ve got old or slow moving inventory just sitting there doing nothing and the price isn’t recovering, cut your ties and move on. There’s no point in holding dead stock that’s tying up cash. Reinvest that money into Q4 products that actually sell.

What to Buy for Q4

Stick to your usual replenishable items, your bread and butter products, your consistent sellers, your A2A flips, and your everyday profitable ASINs.

But on top of that, this is the time to really go deep into seasonal lines such as:

  • Toys and games
  • Fragrances and beauty gift sets
  • Anything that could realistically be bought as a gift

You also want to look at previous Q4 performance, what sold well last year, what trends spiked, and which brands moved fastest. Keep an eye on historical price charts to see how products performed in November and December in past years. That’s how you identify products that will explode again this year.

Go Deep but Stay Smart

One thing you’ll quickly realise about Q4 is that you can never have enough stock.

Products that trickle out slowly in summer start flying out the door in winter. I’ve bought products in previous years, sent them into Amazon, and then had to immediately go back out sourcing again because they sold out faster than expected.

The trick is to go as deep as your budget and ASIN count allow, but stay diversified.

  • Don’t dump 20% of your capital into a single ASIN.
  • Do push each lead as far as your capital comfortably allows.

When something is hot during Q4, it’s really hot. You’ll want to have as much of it as you safely can.

Retail Arbitrage in Q4

In the past, I’ve done a lot of RA (Retail Arbitrage) during Q4, mainly focusing on toy stores and the big seasonal retailers that thrive during Christmas.

If you’ve read my Retail Arbitrage blog series, you’ll already know the best stores to target. These are exactly the types of shops that perform brilliantly in Q4.

If you’re not usually an RA person, this is the perfect time to get into it. There are sales and clearances everywhere, especially across toys, gifts, and fragrances. Just follow the deals, stay alert to price drops, and keep checking all the major retailers.

Understanding the Flow of Q4

Even though Q4 officially runs from October to December, it’s worth understanding how sales patterns typically work.

From experience, I’ve found that October often feels like a “fake Q4.”

It’s usually steady, maybe a little stronger than September, but most customers aren’t buying Christmas gifts yet. They’re saving money, browsing, and preparing for the real shopping season.

November and December are where the magic happens.

Sales start building mid November, peak through December, and typically begin to slow down after the 20th of December. Some buyers still order up to the 22nd or 23rd, but by then, the peak has passed.

I personally keep sending stock into Amazon until around the 14th–15th of December, then reassess. If you’ve still got fast moving products, you can keep selling right up until the cut-off dates.

The Power of Q4

Q4 is the time of year that can completely transform your Amazon business.

It’s fast, chaotic, and exciting and f you plan correctly, it’s also massively profitable. The goal isn’t just to make quick money, it’s to use Q4 as a launchpad to build capital and momentum for the year ahead.

So, from now through to the end of December, keep your focus sharp:

  • Free up cash.
  • Go deep on good deals
  • Keep stock flowing into Amazon consistently.

If you can stay on top of all that, Q4 can set you up for an incredible start to the new year.

Final Thoughts

Q4 is without a doubt the best time of year for an Amazon seller. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be posting more updates as Q4 progresses.

Get your capital ready, get your systems in place, and make this Q4 your strongest, most profitable one yet.
