Amazon Blog Series: Discord Lead Groups

In this part of the series, we are looking at Discord lead groups, how they work, the benefits of using them, and the things to be aware of. Lead groups are a bit of a controversial topic discussed in the Amazon selling space and opinions are often mixed. Some people claim they are essential and others say they are not good! The reality sits somewhere in the middle. Used correctly, lead groups can be extremely useful. Used incorrectly, they can waste time and reduce profitability.

Why I Use Discord Lead Groups

I am a strong supporter of using Discord lead groups when they are used for the right purpose. I actively use them, and I use them mainly for Amazon to Amazon (A2A) sourcing and price drop monitoring.

The A2A monitors in good Discord groups are very useful, .acting quickly is important and the monitors allow you to do exactly that if you are alert. Listings can become quite saturated which is why it is important to go for faster sellers as that is your insurance when the SPM increases.

Price drop monitors for retail websites are also valuable. When retailers discount products, the monitors notify you instantly so you can purchase before the deal becomes widely known, its usually limited stock so you can quickly clear up.

This allows you to buy stock before the market reacts and before hundreds of sellers jump in.

How To Not Use The Leads

This point needs to be understood clearly. The leads posted in lead groups are not the real value. Most of the time, the actual posted leads get saturated quickly because a high number of people are using the same group. If the lead is posted to hundreds of sellers at once, it will not have much life.

The only time i would consider buying these sort of leads are if they are very high SPM!

Community Aspect

The community element of Discord groups can be helpful. Having people to speak to, ask questions to and share experiences with can accelerate learning. However, not all groups are equal. Some groups attract a lot of immaturity, noise and unproductive discussions.

This is why choosing the right group is important. For example, FBA Mogul’s free group is a good example of a more mature environment where sellers are there to learn, share and help others. The tone is professional and productive.

You do need to be selective with groups because some are full of spam, irrelevant conversations or people giving bad advice. The right community is one where people discuss Amazon topics on an adult level!

Education and Support

Lead groups often include:

  • Announcements that include important topic
  • Software advice
  • Live Calls
  • Support Tickets
  • Guides

This type of support can be useful, especially for newer sellers who are still building their business, It gives structure, direction and exposure on how you can start your business

Final Thoughts

Discord lead groups can be very useful when used correctly. For me, the value comes from:

  • A2A Monitors
  • Price drop alerts
  • Community learning and support
  • Networking

If you rely on the posted leads alone, you will get little benefit and likely end up on saturated listings. If you use the information strategically to find additional profitable products, the value becomes significant.

Lead groups should be used as a tool, not a dependency. When you approach them with the right mindset, they can support your sourcing, help you learn and its a chance to meet new people.
