Why I Finally Said Yes to Amazon Mentoring

For those of you who watch my YouTube channel, you’ll know I have mixed feelings about mentoring.

I speak to dozens of people every week who I help get started with Amazon (book your free 15-minute call with me here), and I hear the same story nearly every day. Someone has paid for mentoring from one of these social media influencers, and it turns out to be either a bit of a con or substandard mentoring. I’ve even spoken to several people who paid for not only one mentoring programme but two — and even three in some cases.

Why I Was So Reluctant to Offer Mentoring

Mentoring was something I’d thought about for a long time, but it was never a decision I took lightly. I knew it would take a huge amount of time, energy, and effort to do it properly — and since my own Amazon business and social media were already doing well, I didn’t feel the need to rush into it.

I was also determined not to be associated with the wave of so-called mentors who give the space a bad reputation by overpromising or misleading people.

But over time, the idea kept coming back. After months of thinking it through, I finally decided to take the plunge and build my own 1-on-1 mentoring programme — something that could genuinely help people and reflect the standards I hold myself to.

So what changed?

Why did I decide to begin offering mentoring after being so reluctant to do it for so long?

Two Reasons

1. I was tired of hearing people’s bad experiences.
As I mentioned earlier, I speak to a lot of people, and I got to the point where I was fed up with hearing stories of people paying for mentors who disappointed them. I wanted to give people a real option that not only met their expectations but exceeded them in every way possible.

2. I genuinely enjoy helping people.
I’ve been helping people for free for over two years and will continue to do so. But realistically, if someone wants my help to build their business from the ground up or needs help turning their business around, that’s beyond what I can offer for free.

What I Did Differently

My reputation means everything to me. I’m extremely well known in the Amazon FBA space, and I knew that if I was going to go down the mentoring route, I’d have to make sure it was something I was proud of and happy to put my name behind.

I put months into designing a programme that genuinely makes a difference — one that gives people the knowledge, confidence, and systems to succeed even after the mentorship programme has finished.

One of the first things I decided was that I would not gatekeep anything. I would teach everything I know about selling on Amazon and building an Amazon business. That means every sourcing method, every tip, and every trick I’ve learned along the way. Not only because that’s part of the value of mentoring, but because it’s the morally right thing to do. I can’t sell someone a mentoring programme, portray myself as the example to follow, and then hide the actual methods I use.

This leads me to my next point: I’ve actually done this. Amazon is my full-time income. I regularly make around £10k profit a month, and I’ve been doing that consistently for over three years. Too many people have a little bit of success, get a few sales under their belt, and suddenly think they’re ready to teach — when in reality, they know very little. It’s easy to get sales, but making money is the hard bit. That’s why you see so many influencers posting orange bars (sales screenshots) but never profit.

Building a Programme I am proud of

All of this led me to build out my mentorship programme. And if you haven’t gathered already, the market is pretty soft out there for Amazon FBA mentoring.

I wanted to create something that genuinely helps people — something I could proudly put my name behind. While I don’t claim it’s a perfect programme, and I continue learning and improving with every new student I work with, I can confidently say it’s the most complete and valuable mentoring experience out there.

I could have built a course that was just twice as good as the next best one and probably gotten away with it… But that’s not my style. I wanted to raise the standard entirely. I genuinely believe my mentoring programme is ten times better than the competition — without question.

Should You Do Mentoring?

This is a tricky question because it depends on the individual and their circumstances. But generally speaking, if you have the money to invest and you’re 100% serious about making your Amazon FBA business a success, then mentoring makes total sense.

Mentoring gives you the best chance of success. It gives you the knowledge, the accountability, and — most importantly — it saves you time. And in my opinion, time is worth more than money.

I’m not the only one who offers mentoring, and I’ll always encourage you to do your own research. If you’re unsure about whether someone you’re looking at is legit, you can always ask me in my free Discord server or even during a discovery call. While I’m not in the habit of bad-mouthing competitors, I can give you a thumbs-up or thumbs-down based on what I’ve heard from others.
