Amazon Blog Series: Amazon Alongside Your 9-5

This is the start of a short three part series where we are going to talk about how to run Amazon successfully as a side hustle while still working your normal job. For most people this is the reality, Amazon starts in the evenings, at weekends, in between responsibilities, and it grows from there.

I feel qualified to talk about this because I have generated over £700,000 in revenue while working alongside my nine to five and running other businesses too, and during that time I have learned a huge amount about what works, what doesn’t and what is required to keep everything moving forward without burning out.

Amazon, in my opinion, is the best side hustle available. It is scalable, you can build it quickly, you can create serious income, and it teaches you real business principles that spill over into your career and other ventures. For me, it has improved how I operate everywhere else.

If someone has found a better side hustle, I would genuinely like to hear it.

Why Amazon Works

The beauty of Amazon is that once you understand the mechanics, you can build systems around it. You can outsource parts of it, automate parts of it, and create processes that mean the business continues to run even while you are at work. But to make it work alongside employment, certain pillars need to be in place.

The Pillars Of Running Amazon Beside Your Job

For me, there are several areas that all carry equal weight. Remove one and the structure becomes unstable, improve them and the whole business moves forward faster.

Those pillars are:
Systems and processes, skill set, time management, stress management, balance, support, and cash flow.

I’ve created a visual pie chart for you above because I want you to understand something important, none of these outweigh the others, they all contribute to your ability to succeed while juggling responsibilities.

Why These Pillars Matter

If your systems are poor, you waste time.
If your skill set is weak, you make bad decisions.
If your time management is off, nothing gets done.
If stress builds, performance drops.
If balance disappears, relationships suffer.
If you lack support, the journey becomes lonely.
If cash flow is tight, growth stalls.

When they are aligned, Amazon becomes manageable, sustainable and profitable, even with a job.

What This Can Lead To

You might decide Amazon remains your side hustle forever, producing strong additional income that you reinvest into property, other businesses, holidays or your family, or you might reach a point where the numbers and the opportunity make it obvious that stepping into it full time is the right move.

Only you will know when that moment arrives. What Amazon definitely gives you is options, and options create freedom.

Final Thoughts

Running Amazon next to a nine to five is completely achievable, but it is not accidental. It comes from building the pillars mentioned above and strengthening them over time. When you treat it seriously, stay organised and keep improving, the results compound faster than most people expect.

In the next blog, I will start diving deeper into each of these areas and show you what they look like in the real world, because understanding them at surface level is one thing, applying them daily is another.
